ALLEGED THREATENING TO SHOOT NEAR BESSBROOK.

On 22nd ult., at the conclusion of the Newry petty sessions, John Collins, who is charged with having threatened to shoot one Robert M'Kee, near Bessbrook, was brought up before Messrs. Henry Turner, R.M., and James Erskine, J.P., at the Trevor Hill Courthouse. District-Inspector M'Kean prosecuted on behalf of the Crown, and the accused was not professionally represented. The information of Robert M'Kee, made on Tuesday last, was read over as follows:-- I went on yesterday evening, the 20th March instant, about six o'clock p.m., or a little after, for a walk. I was accompanied by my niece, Mary Elizabeth Walker, aged about nine years. After we went some distance out of the village we turned to come back home, when my attention was drawn to a shot which I heard about one hundred yards off. I looked towards the place and saw a young man, whom I now see present in custody, who appeared to have fired it. He then came towards me, and when about four or five yards from me he asked me if I could get him a b----y Orangeman to shoot. He had a double-barrelled pistol in his hand. He then came close to me, and said, "You are a b----y Orangeman, and I will do for you," at the same tine pointing a pistol towards me and snapping it, as I heard the click, but it did not go off. He then put his hand in his pocket, and said if he cold get another cap for it that it would not miss. At this stage I saw a man running towards me, and the young man ran away in the opposite direction. Other evidence was given, including that of the father of the accused, who deposed that he disarmed his son of a pistol, which, however, was only loaded with powder. He threw the pistol away. Their Worships returned the prisoner for trial to the next quarter sessions in Armagh, bail being refused.
