BELFAST WOMAN'S SAD END.
A widow named Mary Jane Cowan, residing at 5 Foyle Street, Belfast, was found dead at her home this morning. It appears that s=after the members of the household had left for business some neighbours being alarmed at the strong smell of gas entered the house, and discovered the deceased lying on a sofa in [-- ? --] kitchen, the gas at the time being turned [-- ? --] full. Dr. Ritchie was called to the house, [-- ? --] the woman was beyond his aid. Deceased was about 58 years of age.

MILITARY FUNERAL IN [-- ? --]

The funeral took place yesterday.... with full military honours, of Private Thomas Girvan, Royal Irish Rifles, from his late residence, 30 Clandeboye Street, Belfast, to Derriaghy Churchyard. The late Private Girvan was employed by the Belfast and County Down Railway Company prior to enlisting at the outbreak of war. He was stationed in Dublin for a considerable time and took part in the suppression of the R[-- ? --] in Easter Week. A firing party and... of the 3rd Battalion Royal Irish... charge of Lieut. Colles, accompanied... remains, the chief mourners... father, brothers, and uncles... Fisher, M.A., St. Clement's... conducted a service at the... graveside.
