    Weary and long have we waited
        For his coming, but in vain,
    Asking ourselves this hopeless question,
        Will he ever return again?
    Silently the shades of evening gather
        Round our lonely door,
    Silently they bring before us
        The face on earth we will see no more.
    We fancy we hear in the twilight
        Your voice and your step everywhere;
    Our eyes will for ever turn and
        Rest on your vacant chair.
    We trust when you enter death's river,
        And your barque steered clear of the rocks,
    That a merciful Saviour was waiting
        To bear you safely across.
    When days are dark and friends are few,
        Dear Eddy, how we will think of you.
Thy will be done.

SITTLINGTON -- In loving memory of my dear husband, S.P.O., lost on H.M.S Defence in the Jutland Battle on May 31, 1916.
    He died at his post a sailor brave,
        He answered his country's call,
    He sleeps far away in a watery grave,
        For his country's cause he did fall.
    But hush my soul, nor dare repine,
        The time my God appoints is bet,
    While here to do His will be mine,
        And His to fix my time of rest.
Deeply regretted by his loving Wife,

WHITE -- In sad and loving remembrance of my dear husband, Leading Stoker ADAM WHITE, who lost his life through the sinking of the H.M.S. Indefatigable, in the Battle of Jutland on May 31, 1916.
    I cannot kneel beside his grave,
        For he sleeps in the sacred sea;
    And not one gentle whispering wave,
        Will tell the spot to me.
    But though unseen by human eyes,
        Though mortals know it not;
    Our Saviour knoweth where he lies,
        And Angels mark the spot.
Sadly missed by his sorrowing Wife,

    The waves move o'er thy lonely grave,
